I never wanted to be an artist. I have never trained professionally as an artist and for the first twenty years of my life, I have looked at art as something weird that should be separated from me and kept under glass. Yet here I am, creating digital art, painting oil paintings inspired by Bob Ross, and my newest form of entertainment is acrylic pouring. My first three or four creations turned so muddy that I had to scrape off most of the paint and wait for the right moment or motivation to start again.
I also never thought that I would sell my paintings to support my chickens.
I remember the last day at work at the local college, where I teach computer courses. It was Friday, March 20, 2020. For safety reasons, everyone was sent home and I have been teaching online courses and helping my students every day since then.
My first plan was to plant as many vegetables in my backyard as I can and I’m still working on that. When my son said that he wanted to bring home chickens, build a fenced area for them so we can have eggs just in case the stores close, I thought it was a smart idea. We love our chickens, we even named them. Peaches, Heyhey, Cool Beans, and the Escape Artist. Since it made so much sense to raise backyard chickens during the pandemic, I didn’t check the bylaws properly. In March 2020, my family was in an emergency and we had to make an emergency decision. When the bylaw officer came by our house and told us that we have 30 days to relocate our chickens we were heartbroken. In the City of Barrie, you can’t keep chickens.
We have 10 days left to raise enough money to either buy a small farm nearby or to rent a portion of it for the chickens. We need your help to make this happen and we are presenting six ways you can do this:
Buy a custom-made artwork for
Request the blueprint, illustrations, and how-to video of our living fence for $10
Buy our custom IPhone case design from Tspring.
Purchase one of our paintings
Share this video with as many people as you can if you can’t afford the money
Purchase all my paintings, including my most valuable oil painting (This is for people with a big heart and even bigger bank account.)
You can survive a pandemic in your own house if you have a few chickens in the backyard a vegetable garden and grow some of your own food.
I know that I may not be able to support the family of five for an extended period however for a few weeks OK without ever going to the grocery store.
Please comment and leave your ideas about other tips that you may have and how you can support us.
Thank you so much for your help.
